Breaking the Silence II
2017
This is the second of Takizawa’s Breaking the Silence installations. This seven feet tall sculpture was created in hopes to create suicide awareness. The audience is able to rock the metal component of the installation gently, which causes the glass bells to hit each other and ring - literally breaking the silence. The shape of the metal is an incomplete “ensō”, meaning “circle” or “absolute enlightenment” in Zen Calligraphy.
